Turmeric Chicken Tenders in Under 10 Minutes!

Make dinner in a jiffy with this simple turmeric chicken tenders recipe!

Traditionally used in Indian cuisine and one of the ingredients in curry, Turmeric is a versatile spice that is highly medicinal, especially when high concentrations of curcumin are present. Turmeric spice comes from the root of the plant, whose flesh is bright orange or yellow. In the kitchen, turmeric is used as a natural food colorant, since it adds a beautiful bright yellow to light orange tinge to foods. It has a warm, slightly bitter taste. I use turmeric often while seasoning meats and add it to stews and soups for natural broth color and deep flavor, along with my season-all cubes.

Turmeric chicken tenders

Fast and delicious, these simple turmeric chicken tenders are ready in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs chicken tenders
  • 2 tbsp cooking oil
  • 1 tspn turmeric powder
  • 1 1/2 tspn salt
  • 1/2 tspn pepper
  • 1/3 cup fresh sweet basil chopped... or:
  • 1 tspn dry basil flakes
  • 1 tspn fresh garlic crushed

Instructions

  1. In a small mixing bowl, mix the turmeric, salt (and dry basil if not using fresh). Use a larger bowl to mix spices with the chicken, until the tenders are mostly covered with turmeric on at least one side. If using fresh basil, mix the chicken and dry ingredients first, then add the fresh basil.

  2. In a medium frying pan, add the oil and allow it to heat on medium.

  3. Add the crushed garlic and allow to cook for a few seconds. Quickly after, add the chicken tenders one by one, so that each tender is in contact with the oil.

  4. Pan fry for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until chicken is fully cooked (165 degrees F) and white inside (not pink).

  5. Serve with your favorite side dishes!

  6. Optional: Add sliced onions to the chicken before turning.
